George Washington Redmon was born November 1825 / 1827 in Kentucky.  He was the son of William B. Redmon and Rachael Dye.  August 13, 1857 George married Mildred Elizabeth Carrico.  They had a daughter named:
  • Rachael Ellie Redman born in 1858. m. James Childress Nelson
Mildred passed away and George married Mary Elizabeth Ashcraft, December 11, 1860 at Squire Crady's in Larue County.  Four girls were born to this union:

  • Mary Francis "Fannie" Redmon in 1868, m. John Logan Cambron 186 in Larue Co., d. 1949, burial Evergreen
  • and Florence Belle Redmon in 1869. (information above)
George, to my knowledge, lived most, if not all of his life, in Larue County.  In the 1850's George owned 118 acres where he raised cattle and hogs.  He also raised corn and wheat.  He served as a Deacon for Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in White City.  He died June 29, 1896 and was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  His 2nd wife, Mary, died November 9, 1898 and she was also buried at Pleasant Grove.
William B. Redmon was born 1801 in Hardin County the son of  George Redmon and Delillia Perceifull.  He married Rachael Dye January 28, 1824 in Hardin County, Ky.  They had these children:
  • George Washington Redmon in 1825, (information above)
  • Job John Dye Redmon 1827, m. Martha C. Mulhall, d. 1898, burial Hodgenville Catholic Cem.
  • Hannah Redmon in 1831, m. James P. Mulhall, d. aft. 1910, Louisville LKR
  • and James M. Redmon in 1836. m. Rue Amey Merrifield 1866 in Larue Co.,  d. 1871-1879, Larue Co. LKR
William died June 13, 1879 and Rachel followed February 26, 1890. They are both resting in peace at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near their son, George Washington.
George W. Redmon was born 1777.  He married Delilah Percifull June 3, 1800.  George Redmon and Samuel Perciful placed the marriage bond in Hardin County.  George & Delilah lived on The Redman Farm as early as 1823.  It was previously owned by Thomas Redman who rec'd the patent in 1792.  The land had been entered in 1783 by Henry Hulls. (Later in 1847 George W. Redman trf'd the land to his son, George P. Redmon)
They had these children:
  • William B. Redmon born 1801, m. Rachael Dye 1824 in Hardin Co. and died 1879, burial Pleasant Grove
  • Ann Redmon 1803, did not marry, died 1852 at the age of 49 from cancer, burial Redman Cem.
  • Nancy Redmon 1805, m. Charles Morgan 1831 in Hardin Co., died 1839, burial Redman Cem.

  • Elizabeth Redmon 1809-1812, m. James Morgan 1835 in Hardin Co., died 1844, burial ?
  • Jane Redmon 1814-1819, m. Mason Taylor ca. 1838 in ? Co., died 1887 at home near Pleasant Grove, age 72, burial Family Cem. (The Redman's?)
  • George P. Redmon in 1810, m. Delana Thompson 1842 in Hardin Co and later Elizabeth Gollaher in 1851 in Larue Co, died April 1860, age 49, from pneumonia, burial at Redman Cem.
  • Mary Redmon 1818, m. Alvin Torrance 1856 in Larue Co, died abt. Nov. 1860, burial ?
  • Juliett Redmon 1822. m. John B. Fisher 1857 in Larue Co., died 1887 from flux, age 64, burial at Nolin Cem.
The Redman's were farmers.  Tax records show they raised hogs and cattle.  Some of their crops were corn and wheat.  Tax records for generations of Redman's show the farm to be on Knob Creek.
The family lived near a young boy named Abrahm Lincoln (born 1809) and his family.  In 1815 when Tommy Lincoln died he was buried on the George Redmon farm. George died March 1, 1847.  Delilia died June 6, 1857.  They are buried at the Redman Family Cemetery in Larue County.
I have not been able to find tombstones for several members of this family and believe they may be buried in the Redman Cem.
Seek a photograph from the February 1946 newspaper...Mr. Gerald McMurtry wrote an article about Abraham Lincoln and a photograph of the old Redmon log home was included.  Can someone find that article and email me a copy?
Nancy Morgan married Charles Morgan on May 29, 1831.  The bond and license were issued in Hardin County.  George Redman swore Nancy was of age.  Charles Morgan & John L. Helm were on the marriage bond.
