Oscar  Nelson was born September 2, 1897 in Larue County the son of John Robert Nelson & Mary Ann Price.  Around 1922 he married Annie M. Masterson and to this union were born: Joseph 1923, John 1925, Charles 1927, Raphael 1929, Annie 1931 and Mary in 1934.  He was a Veteran of World War I. He lived many years of his life in New Haven where he was laid to rest October 8, 1955 at St. Catherine's Cemetery.
Hatten Price was born May 2, 1831 in Hardin Co. the son of Martha.  In 1847 he married Ms. Margaret Ellen Price the d/o John.  In 1874 he married Mrs. Sarah Oaks DeSpain.  In 1881 he married Mrs. Catharine Salsman Howell.  He died Dec. 19'th, 1913.  He had children: Elizabeth Catharine, John M. abt. 1848, Henry M. abt. 1849, Thomas G. Sept. 1855, James W. May 1858, Wm. M. May 1859, Nancy E. Apr. 1860, Mary/Mollie Nov. 1861, Mary Ann Price born 1863.
His. daughter Mary Ann married John Robert Nelson in 1887 in Larue County.  They had six children: Marshall 1887, Thomas Hatton 1889, Lizzie Nelson 1891, Monroe 1894, Oscar 1897 and Charlie 1903. In 1913 John married a 2nd time, this time to Amanda Ann Cissell.  They had John in 1914, Rose in 1915, Johnny in 1918 and Susan in 1920.
Thomas Hatton Nelson born 1889 would marry Fannie Alma Elliott.  They were my great grandparents.  They had 7 children together.  They moved into Louisville from Larue County.  They were buried at Resthaven.  He passed away in 1955 and she in 1963.

John Thomas Price enrolled in the Union Army Aug, 15, 1863.  He was a Sergeant in Company E, 37th Ky. Infantry and was honorably discharged December 29,1864 in Louisville.  He, with wife, Lucrecia York farmed near Hodgenville.  In 1880 he filed for his military pension.  He died April 9, 1910 and was buried at Riverview Cemetery in New Haven in Nelson County.
John Robert Nelson was born in 1863 the son of Thomas Nelson & Susan Childress.  In 1870 he lived in Buffalo and in the 1880's he lived in the Prices District of Larue Co.  In 1887 he married Mary Ann Price, daughter of Hatton Price.   He had a son Marshall in 1887, a son Thomas Hatton in 1889, a dau. Lizzie in 1891, a son Monroe in 1894, a son Oscar in 1897 and a son Charlie in 1903.  By 1900 he had moved to Athertonville. In 1903 his wife died and was buried at Pleasant Grove.  He married Mandy Cissell in 1913 and they had 4 children, one of which died right after birth.  The remaining children from this union grew to adulthood: Rose, Johnny & Susan.  John died at the age of 77 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The portion of the stone scene at the bottom of the photograph was all that was visible when I noticed there was a grave there.  So as I pulled the grass back I could see there was a tombstone there to be uncovered.  Without a shovel or better tools, you might say, this was all handy work. LOL  It surely will not take long for the grass to reclaim this. 

This was Hatten's first wife.  Her name was Margaret Ellen Price and they were married October 12, 1847 in Larue Co.  They had many children: John 1848, Henry 1849, Elizabeth 1853, Thomas 1855, James 1858, William 1859, Nancy 1860, Mollie 1861, Mary Ann 1863.
Hatten Price would be buried beside her in 1913.
Paul Price has contributed the following information about W. D. Price from his death ctf. information - William David Price, died in Marion County on June 4, 1946.  He was a single, white, male, the son of Rachel Price.  There was no fathers name given.  The informant was Mary Bell Price. 
William T. Price married Edmonia Allen. He was the son of  Jefferson Price & Nancy C. Lewis.  He was the grandson of William L. Lewis & Mary Ann Spencer.  In 1880 he was 14 years of age living in the Otter Creel area/  He died Oct. 15, 1941 near New Hope, Nelson Co.  He was age 77.  He had lived in Gleanings.  (Parental info. from his death ctf. - Mary Bell Price was informant)
John A. Stilwell was born 4/1/1837 (or ca. 1839 per census) the son of Joel Stilwell and Mahala Price.  Kentucky Archive records indicate John was born in Larue County, Kentucky.  Dec. of 1865 he married Josephine B. Price, the daughter of Charles & Evaline Price.  They had:

  • Jesse abt. 1870,
  • Lola abt. 1872,
  • Rufus, abt. 1874,
  • Roscoe 1874, (died 10/19/1887 - abt. age 13)

  • Joseph 1877 and
  • Frances abt. 1879.
  • Arthur was born Oct. 1882, (died 2/10/1884 - abt. age 2)
  • Logan was born Oct. of 1883,
  • Minnie was born March of 1886 and (died 9/11/1889 - age 3)
  • Frank was born Aug. of 1889.  Josephine died April 8, 1904 and John remarried to Bernette.  They had a son named
  • Leonard born ca. 1906
John died 2/17/1917 in Larue County at the age of 78.  He had a long friendship with John Lewis Elliott (35 yrs. +) and they are buried beside each other.

In the pension claim of Caroline Ellit widow of John L. Ellit late Private Co. E 13 Ky. Inft. - on this 28 day of May 1886 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace for County and state aforesaid John A. Stillwell age 47 years whose post office adress is New Hope, Ky. who being by  me duly sworn states on his oath that he has known said claimants husband for more than 35 years and we was raised boys together and when said Ellit enlisted into the Army in year 1861 he was a stout healthy man free from disease in my opinion and that while in Louisville, Ky. in year 1865 I saw claimant often we both lived in said city said soldier complained of his breast and lungs hurting him he had a bad cough seemed to be weak and thin in flesh and lived by claimant husband from his cischarge untiil his death in August 1882 all of said time he complaind to me of his breast and lungs hurting him and he had a bad coughall of said - and my knowledged is derived from having lived a close neighbor to said soldier from discharge until his death and saw him often and i have no interest in this claim and not related to claimant in anyway.

Charlie Thompson was born the son of James Thompson & Lena _____.  In 1910 when Charlie was 6 yrs. of age he lived with his parents in Mag. Dist. 1 of Nelson County.  Charlie married Julia Ellen Underwood and in 1930 they lived in Nelson County with a child 3 months of age.
He was the grandson of Benjamin Thompson from Marion County.
Les Thompson was the son of James Thompson & Lena _____.  In 1910 he was age 4 living with his parents and siblings in Mag. 1 of Nelson Co.  He was the grandson of Benjamin Thompson.
George Atwood Underwood was born May 16, 1877 in Larue County. the son of Jefferson Underwood & Elizabeth L. Houston. The birth is recorded in the Kentucky Archives as May 16, 1876.  He was the grandson of Willis Underwood & Nancy Johnson and Amos M. Houston & Melvina M. Johnson.  In 1899 he married Nora Maggie Murphy in Larue County.   He died at the age of 77 in E'town.
Mariah Ratcliff was the wife of George Underwood.  In 1910 they lived in Larue County with John 12, Pierce E. 8, George R. 5 and Ethel age 2.  In 1920 the children were: Edward 19, George R. 15, Ethel M. 11, Lewis L. 7, Wm. H. 5 and Everett at 2 months.

Ed Underwood was the son of George & Mariah Underwood.  In 1910 and 1920 he was living with his parents in Larue County.
