Rebecca Ellen Druen Curry was my Great Grandmother.  She was born  March 13, 1873 in Hart County, Kentucky, the daughter of Andrew J. Druen & Mary Elizabeth Corum.  She would marry Willis Green Curry and they had eight children. The family lived in PikeView on 31E in a double cabin with a large fireplace in the middle and a dog trot. Willis died in Hart County in March of 1916 at the age of 48 and their daughter, Rosetta, would pass away in 1925.  It was around this time that Rebecca moved into Louisville and remained there for the remainder of her life.  She lived her last years with my Grandparents, her son, Otto & Irene Curry at 1085 Keller Avenue.  Rebecca passed away August 23, 1949 at the age of 76.  McDaniels Funeral Home handled the arrangements and the funeral service took place at Atwood Wesleyan Methodist Church in Louisville. Unlike Willis and Rosetta who were laid to rest at Pikeview Cemetery of Hart County, Rebecca was buried in Louisville at Evergreen Cemetery on Preston Highway.  Many members of my maternal families are buried at Evergreen.
Their children were as follows:  Emma Jane Curry 1891, Jesse Lee Curry 1894, Minnie Mae Curry 1897, Mattie Lee Curry 1900, Robert Thomas Curry 1903, William Sanford Curry 1906, Alvin Otto Curry 1910, Rosetta Curry 1912.

Rosetta Curry was born 1912.  She injured her eye accidentally and family legend is this had something to do with her death at such a young age of 13.  Her remains were laid to rest at Pikeview Cemetery in Hart County.
1) Francis J. Druen born about 1868.  This is how the name appears on the 1880 census.  She is the oldest daughter listed at age 12.  In 1900, 20 years later, Francis is not listed with her Mother.  She is either deceased or married and out of the house. This name of Francis is NOT listed in Mema's book but Cissy is.  It would appear then that Frances was called "Cissy".  So...then she obviously didn' t die at birth but perhaps giving birth?
2) Cynthia Druen born about 1870.  She is on the 1880 census as the 2nd daughter at age 10 and otherwise I have no information.  She is not listed 20 years later on the 1900 census in her Mother's household.  She is either deceased or married and out of the house by 1900.  This name is also listed in Mema's book.
3) Mary Ann Druen was born 1868 (according to her tombstone), January 11, 1867, (per her death certificate) and December 1873( per census information).  She was listed as their third daughter on the 1880 census.  She was age 9, which would mean born about 1871.  She is the oldest daughter living with her Mother in 1900.  She would marry _____Warren and then Sylvester Levin Snellen.  She had two boys from her first marriage, Bradley and Riley.  She had two girls by Lev:  Essel and Dica.  She died March 16, 1934 in Louisville and was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery the next day, March 17'th.  Her daughters would later be buried beside her.  Mary Ann was referred to in Mema's book. Tombstone
4) Luther Thomas Druen was born June 1875 and later married Eliza Bell Dennison.  He is listed on the 1880 census as the 1st son, age 5,.  September of 1918 on WWI registration card his description is eyes and hair were gray.  The card is in the name of Tom Druen, age 44.  He stated born June 19, 1874.  He was of medium height and stout.  He did not have any disablities or loss of limbs.  He was a farmer employed by Charles Rodgers.  He had a Shepherdsville, Bullitt County address.  He passed away after 1933.  "Tom" is referred to in Mema's book.
5) Daniel Green Druin was born 1874 (per tombstone), in Hart County.  Kentucky Archive Records state that he was born August 15, 1876 in Hart County.  He is listed as the 2nd son on the 1880 census at age 3.  July 24, 1902 he married Mrs. Laura Gardner and August 9, 1915 he married Martha E. Warren.  They lived in Shepherdsville in Bullitt County.  In September of 1918 he noted on his WWI registration card a loss of fingers on his right hand.  He was a farmer, employed by Charles Rodgers.  His wife was Martha.  His eyes were grey and his hair was black.  This record states he was born August 9, 1876.  He was age 42 with a Shepherdsville address.  He passed away March 9, 1964 and was laid to rest at the Hebron Cemetery in Bullitt County.  Daniel is referred to in Mema's book. Tombstone
6) Fanny Rachel Druen born July 1879 married William Ford.  She was the youngest child and the 5th daughter listed on the 1880 census.  The census taken in June 1880, states she was 11 months old and born in July.  She was listed on the 1900 census as Fannie in her Mothers household.  She died April 18, 1960 at the age of 75 and was laid to rest at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Louisville.  In her obituary her maiden name is spelled Druin.  She is referred to as Rachel in Mema's book. Tombstone
7) Mathe Druen is listed on the 1900 census as born July 1883.  She is between Fanny and John in age.  The name Mathe was not listed in Mema's book.  I have no additional information on this daughter.
8) John H. Druen, born March of 1885 was listed with his Mother on the 1900 census.  He married Sarah _____.  He passed away September 2, 1923 in Bullitt County.  John is referred to in Mema's book. Tombstone
9)"Sud" Druen must have been born after 1880 as she is not listed on that census.  From her age on the 1900 census she was born about 1883/1884.  I don't know her real name.  She married James Lambert Ford.  She died around 1913 probably.  I have not found her death certificate.  I would say she is buried at Pikeview Cemetery without a marker.  Her husband, James Lambert Ford was buried there 1949.  Her daughter was buried there 1934.  They do not have tombstones and they are buried beside each other.  Burials were taking place at Pikeview at that place in time.  Sud is mentioned in Mema's book.
Going back to Harrison Druen and his descendents:
Harrison Drewin was born about 1816 the son of David Lewis Drewin and Elizabeth Chaudoin.  He married Sarah Jane Corum and they lived in Green County, Kentucky.  In 1870 they lived in the Lower Brush Creek area of Green County.  By 1880 Harrison has married Winnie Griffin.  They lived in Hammonville area of Hart County per the 1880 census information.  I do not know when or where Harrison was buried (or spouses).  He fathered nine children - James H. Drewin, Andrew J. Drewin, George A. Drewin, Luther B. Drewin, Daniel J. Drewin, Mary J. Drewin, William T. Drewin, Lewis D. Drewin, andFielding H. Drewin.
James H. Drewin was born about 1846  per the 1850 census.  Per a later census record he was born April of 1845.  He appears to have been mentally disabled or handicapped.  In 1880 he is age 33, single, living with his parents in Hammonville.  Twenty years later he lived with William (his brother) in Hart County.  This 1900 census states James was born of 1845 also.  He did not work.  He could not read, write or speak English.  He was age 55 and single.  He did not marry or have any children.  I do not have his date of death or burial location.
Andrew J. Drewin born 1848 per the 1850 census.  His burial location and date of death not known for certain.  He has previously been discussed as that is my direct line.
George A. Drewin was born in 1850 per the 1850 census.  He married Nerva A. Hayes, January 9, 1873 at W. Simpson's.  The marriage information was filed in Green County, February 27, 1878 he married Frances A. (a. k. a. Sarah) Corum at the residence of Henry Corum.  In 1880 they were living in Green County.  George was a farmer.  I do not have his date of death or burial location.
Luther B. Drewin was born 1850 per the 1860 census.  Another record states he was born July 13, 1851 in Green County.  He married Mary Ann Sidebottom, August 2, 1876 at the residence of Felix Dyer.  The marriage information was filed and bonded in Green County.  In 1880 they were living in the Greensburg area.  Luther was a farmer also.  He died January 18, 1896 in Green County.  My "cousin" Bob Druin informs me Luther was buried at the Wilson Cemetery (located near Gabe) in Green County.  The record from Cemeteries of Green County Vol ! gives these dates - B. 7/13/1850 D. 1/18/1896.
Daniel J. Druen was born July 30, 1852 in Green County.  His tombstone reads born May 6, 1852 and his death certificate states the same.  He was the grandson of David Lewis Drewin and Elizabeth Chaudoin.  He was the son of Harrison Drewin & Sarah Jane Corum, however, his death certificate states he was the son of Sarah Jane Perkins.  He married Elizabeth Frances Perkins December 12, 1871 at Jesse P. Perkins.  Witnesses to the ceremony were Andrew Druen & George Perkins.  The marriage bond was placed in Green County on December 11, 1871.  They would have a large family.  Daniel could not read or write.  He farmed and lived to the age of 73.  The 1920 census tells us in his last years he lived in Linwood.  he died December 28, 1925 from Bright's Disease.  He also suffered from diabetes.  He was buried at Knoxes Creek Cemetery.  Elizabeth had passed away five years earlier in December 18, 1920.

William T. Drewin was born 1858 per the 1860 census.  The marker states he was born January 6, 1859.  He married Nancy Belle Walsh and by 1880 they were living in the Powder Mill area of Hart County.  He was a farmer.  He could not read or write.  He died June 15, 1925 in Hammonville area of Hart County.  He was age 64.  Dixon was the undertaker.  He was buried on the 16'th at the Pikeview Church Cemetery.  Nancy died November 2, 1938 and was buried beside him at Pikeview.

Rebecca Druen
Mary Elizabeth Corum, my Great Great Grandmother, was born May of 1841.  (Her death certificate states her birthday "not known". ) She was the daughter of Stephen Corum.    There they lived in a home with a dirt floor and no windows.  There were 2 doors and per Rebecca, my great grandmother, one door was always kept open for the light to come in.  These were their children: Frances J. Druin 1868, Cyntha Druin 1870, Mary Ann Druin 1871, Rebecca Ellen Druin 1873,  (my Great Grandmother ), Thomas Druin 1875 , Daniel G.  Druin 1877, Fanny R. Druin 1879, Mattie Druin 1883, and John Druin 1885.  After Andrew died, or by 1920, Mary moved to Bullitt County. She did not remarry.Mary Elizabeth Druin (as spelled on her death certificate) passed away on April 13, 1920 in Pitts Point from old age.   Her death certificate states she was around the age of 80.   She was buried at the Cundiff Cemetery in Bullitt County (a very unkept cemetery today).  I do not have a photograph of her grave as I have not been able to locate her marker.  There is a grave next to her son without a marker and Bob Druin (as they spell it in Bulllitt County) tellls me this is where she was buried.
Children of Willis & Rebecca Druen Curry
I'll begin here with my direct line and then share information about the extended Druen/Druin Families from Hart & Green Counties.
Andrew "Andy" Jackson Druen was born about 1848 in Green County, Kentucky, the son of  Harrison Drewin & Sarah Jane Corum.  In June of 1867 in Green County he married Mary Elizabeth Corum.  I was told by Mema they had nine children, six girls and three boys.  He owned 40 acres in Hart County off 31W.  The property was next to the Curry acreage of 50 and would later be combined for a total of 90 acres.  There are different versions of the cause of his death but in this way they are similiar - he injured himself with a gun.   The injury resulted in cancer.  He suffered terribly and mosquito netting was put over him to keep the flies away.  He warned his kinfolk to get right with God and not to wait until their dying day.  I do not know the date or where he was laid to rest.  He died between 1885-1900.  The last census he appears on is 1880.  He could be buried at the Druen Cemetery as burials were taking place there in the 1880's and did not start at the Pikeview Church until about 1900.
Now, back up the tree a bit to the children of Andrew Druen & Mary Elizabeth Corum...
